Early Development Program – Training Starts Tomorrow (5:15 arrival, 5:30 start) Upper Wilkins Fields
We start our full training tomorrow, if you have not registered, please do so TODAY! We look forward to seeing all of the players at Upper Wilkins at 5:15. Please be there at 5:15 each night so we can get organized and start training at 5:30 for one solid hours of soccer.
Equipment – Please wear cleats, shin guards, and training gear appropriate for the weather. Bring water and a size 3 or 4 soccer ball – properly inflated.
Coaches - This year our EDP Director will be Josh Taylor. Josh is on the coaching staff at Southern New Hampshire University, with our Director of Coaching Marc Hubbard. Josh is a 2009 graduate from New England College with a degree in Sport and Recreation Management and a Coaching Minor. Taylor was four-year member for the Pilgrims Men's Soccer team being named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference 3rd Team in 2007 and Team Captain in 2008. The Pilgrims also were ECAC Tournament Finalists in 2007 and achieved 40 wins, most in school history, during a four-year span. Taylor has been on NH ODP staff since 2006. Taylor holds a NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advance Youth Diploma and a USSF ‘D' License. He is also pursuing a Masters Degree in Sport Management from SNHU. Josh will be supported by Chelsea Roberge, a veteran coach in our EDP program and a standout player at Souhegan High School. Other coaches this season include Molly Dix, two time Division III national champion while playing at the University of Rochester, and Peter Camello, long-time Amherst Soccer Club youth coach. The U10 travel pool continues to be led by Mark Smith. Mark has been coaching soccer for the last 17 years for the Amherst Soccer Club, the Nashua World Cup Soccer Club and the Inti Soccer Academy. He holds both a USSF National D and Youth license. He will be supported by Angela Horner (Gettysburg), Shad Hansen (Santa Clara) and veteran coach Mike Erickson.
Schedule – Remember, we train three nights per week, M,W,F at Upper Wilkins field off of Jones Rd. from 5:15 to 6:30 and soon will start jamborees on Saturdays. See dates below.
Tournament - Just a reminder that the club is hosting our 20th Annual Memorial Day Tournament May 26th-28th. We will be hosting over 250 teams over the memorial weekend. This annual soccer tournament is our club's only fundraiser and a lot of fun and games for our kids. We earn a significant amount of our funds from this weekend’s event which helps to keep our fees down. All parents who have kids playing (EDP invites ALL U9 and U10 players) are assigned approximately 6-8 hours per player this weekend at a specific duty such as field marshaling, concessions, parking, field cleanup, field prep, etc. Team Duties will be assigned in April so please keep the weekend free for your child's games and your work assignment. If you would like to complete your hours prior to that weekend or will be away, contact Lisa at tournament@amherstsoccerclub.com. If your child is too young to play, but you want to volunteer, please let us know, we would love the help.
Communication – please remember that all e-mails are logged at the EDP blog at http://asc-edp.blogspot.com/ so if you can’t find one, it is there. NOTE THAT THE EDP CALENDAR WILL BE UPDATED…we do not start jamborees the 21st, and training arrival is 5:15 with training start at 5:30 – late arrivals hurt our ability to balance coach to player ratio, please try to be there at 5:15.
Mark your calendar:
