Welcome to EDP
We are looking forward to having your player with us this season.  Our philosophy is to teach your kids the love of soccer and the skills to be successful at whatever level they choose to play.  Our philosophy translates into our running multiple sessions per week for this age group because we understand that kids this age have many interests and may not be available for every training session.  We use a set curriculum that builds on soccer basics as the season progresses and do encourage players to make as many sessions as possible.  The sessions run exactly one hour and we strongly request that players do not arrive late as it hurts the organization of the group when numbers shift after breaking the kids into groups.  For all players we have 4v4 on selected Saturdays.  Our older, and more experienced U10 pool plays in Granite State as competitive travel teams.  This season our EDP has 2 boys teams, and 2 girls teams, a great foundation for strong future teams.  Our goal is to develop all of our players to be competitive travel soccer players with a long and successful career built on proper technique and understanding.
Calendar
Practices:           Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 5:30-6:30 PM., Upper Wilkins
arrive at 5:15 to get settled and avoid late arrival that disrupts the group
BRING: 4 soccer ball, cleats, shin guards, water, sunscreen, bug spray
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of each practice for the kids to warm-up and greet their friends so that soccer can start and finish on time.
EDP Jamborees:   Saturdays, 8:00-9:00 a.m., Cemetery Field  - 4v4 jamborees
Note the new time – it is only six weeks so we hope you can all rally out of the house and then enjoy your day!
BRING: ASC shirt from camp (or you will be given one the first week of training)
size 4 ball, cleats, shin guards, water, sunscreen, bug spray
On Saturdays at Cemetery Fields we appreciate help from parents with set-up too and arrival at least 15 minutes prior is appreciated.  Note, this schedule may change during the season.

EDP Announcements, tonight, and thru season

Hi EDP Families-

Tonight our Club Director of Coaching, Marc Hubbard, will be at EDP so we want to hold a quick parent’s meeting at 5:30 once we get the kids started.  Thanks to everyone for a great season so far.  Please come with questions and comments.  A few reminders as we move to the end of our season:

-          Please try to have kids at field at 5:15 as we start promptly at 5:30

-          Remember no jamboree this weekend, but we do have practice on Friday night as usual

-          This weekend the club hosts 200+ teams in an awesome tournament, for those of you with younger kids, if you are around stop at any field and show your young player their future – big kids, big fields, and great soccer

-          No practice Monday, Memorial Day

-          Club picnic will be June 18 at 6 PM, more will come from the club on this.  It is a family event so please put it on your calendar for the whole family, it is lots of fun

-          Tryouts for next fall’s travel teams are at Cemetery Field June 11 from 6-8 and June 14 from 6-8. Remember to encourage your friends who play rec to come – be there 15 minutes early to register.  All U9 players need to be there as they will be travelling as U10s next year, and all U10s as they will be U11 (and graduating from EDP).  Any U8s who want to be considered are welcome to come and tryout for the EDP travel teams

-          EDP jamborees remaining are June 2 and June 9, we play from 1-2 PM so please come no later than 12:45 for warm up

-          Bring a friend night will be June 4, so encourage your friends to come see what our club is all about

-          Our last training session will be June 8

-          For the non-travel EDP players, please consider a donation to coaches’ gifts, most are volunteers and we appreciate showing them our appreciation.  You can give donations to Molly before or after practice

For tryouts and bring a friend please use the waiver at http://www.amherstsoccerclub.com/_fileCabinet/ascfiles/2012_ASC_medical_release.pdf

Thanks,

EDP Staff

Training starts tomorrow!!!!

Early Development Program – Training Starts Tomorrow (5:15 arrival, 5:30 start) Upper Wilkins Fields

We start our full training tomorrow, if you have not registered, please do so TODAY!  We look forward to seeing all of the players at Upper Wilkins at 5:15.  Please be there at 5:15 each night so we can get organized and start training at 5:30 for one solid hours of soccer.

Equipment – Please wear cleats, shin guards, and training gear appropriate for the weather.  Bring water and a size 3 or 4 soccer ball – properly inflated.

Coaches - This year our EDP Director will be Josh Taylor. Josh is on the coaching staff at Southern New Hampshire University, with our Director of Coaching Marc Hubbard.  Josh is a 2009 graduate from New England College with a degree in Sport and Recreation Management and a Coaching Minor. Taylor was four-year member for the Pilgrims Men's Soccer team being named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference 3rd Team in 2007 and Team Captain in 2008. The Pilgrims also were ECAC Tournament Finalists in 2007 and achieved 40 wins, most in school history, during a four-year span.  Taylor has been on NH ODP staff since 2006. Taylor holds a NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advance Youth Diploma and a USSF ‘D' License. He is also pursuing a Masters Degree in Sport Management from SNHU.  Josh will be supported by Chelsea Roberge, a veteran coach in our EDP program and a standout player at Souhegan High School.  Other coaches this season include Molly Dix, two time Division III national champion while playing at the University of Rochester, and Peter Camello, long-time Amherst Soccer Club youth coach.  The U10 travel pool continues to be led by Mark Smith.  Mark has been coaching soccer for the last 17 years for the Amherst Soccer Club, the Nashua World Cup Soccer Club and the Inti Soccer Academy. He holds both a USSF National D and Youth license.  He will be supported by Angela Horner (Gettysburg), Shad Hansen (Santa Clara) and veteran coach Mike Erickson.

Schedule – Remember, we train three nights per week, M,W,F at Upper Wilkins field off of Jones Rd. from 5:15 to 6:30 and soon will start jamborees on Saturdays.  See dates below.

Tournament - Just a reminder that the club is hosting our 20th Annual Memorial Day Tournament May 26th-28th. We will be hosting over 250 teams over the memorial weekend. This annual soccer tournament is our club's only fundraiser and a lot of fun and games for our kids. We earn a significant amount of our funds from this weekend’s event which helps to keep our fees down. All parents who have kids playing (EDP invites ALL U9 and U10 players) are assigned approximately 6-8 hours per player this weekend at a specific duty such as field marshaling, concessions, parking, field cleanup, field prep, etc. Team Duties will be assigned in April so please keep the weekend free for your child's games and your work assignment. If you would like to complete your hours prior to that weekend or will be away, contact Lisa at tournament@amherstsoccerclub.com. If your child is too young to play, but you want to volunteer, please let us know, we would love the help.

Communication – please remember that all e-mails are logged at the EDP blog at http://asc-edp.blogspot.com/ so if you can’t find one, it is there.  NOTE THAT THE EDP CALENDAR WILL BE UPDATED…we do not start jamborees the 21st, and training arrival is 5:15 with training start at 5:30 – late arrivals hurt our ability to balance coach to player ratio, please try to be there at 5:15.

Mark your calendar:

·         Jamborees – April 28, May 5, May 12, May 19, June 2, June 9 at Cemetery Fields 1-2 PM.  We play 4v4 format and appreciate soccer parents who want to help manage a field.

·         APRIL SCHOOL BREAK CAMP-For additional opportunities to receive more touches on the ball and instruction, Soccer Sphere, will be holding a week-long camp during April Break vacation (4/23-27) at Southern New Hampshire University. Soccer Sphere, is run by our Director of Coaching, Marc Hubbard, and provides soccer camps throughout New Hampshire. Soccer Sphere's goal is to challenge each player each day with the objective to build confidence, increase each camper's playing skills, and most of all have FUN! For more information on Soccer Sphere and camp applications can be found at www.soccersphere.org.

·         Club Outing - NE Revolution Game Saturday May 12th vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC - Kickoff @ 7:30PM e-mail Mark Smith at msmithp2@gmail.com for tickets.

·         Club year end picnic - June 11th  for families.  The club will provide hotdogs and hamburgers and we will send out what families are to bring (by age) – stay tuned.

·         Summer Camp - August 6th-10th 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Bean Fields in Amherst, NH. Cost of camp is $125 for players from outside our club. For those players, rostered with HFC/ASC for the fall, camp is included in your fall dues. If you have friends that would like to participate or interested in joining the club please contact Director of Coaching, Marc Hubbard at m.hubbard@snhu.edu or 603-645-9703 for more information.
